I'm down to the last piece to get ( I hope).
![]() I saved the Video Card for last because I have no Idea where to even begin looking. From my understanding, I have two choices 1) nVidia 2) ATI I understand they all have their susidiaries eg. G-Force etc. What I need mine for, other then basic running around the web, is 1) Games.. eg:Oblivion, have several people who want me to play WOW, things of this nature. 2)Web Design..Right now I am doing a basic class and I'll be signing up for the IMD class in the spring. 3)Excel: Maybe I should say, that is what I plan on using the computer for and ask for suggestions on what Graphics Card ya'll think would be a great choice. I aprreciate any advise and my Thanks in Advance. GITM get NVIDIA(drivers are awesome!!) ATI drivers??(LOL) |

While historically there may be some validity to that statement, the current cards from ATi and their Windows drivers are delivering far better performance than anything nVidia has on the market AND they run cooler. Things may change when Team Green finally release Fermi, but for now ATi have both the best value and the best performance crowns.
In Linux, however, ATi drivers ... well they WORK fine, but you have to already have them installed before you can install them (there's no generic drivers that will run the card so you can install the current ones) which is crappy programming. |

People's views on drivers are so backwards, its like old wives tales, eg vitamin C tablets help with flu etc!

Having tried to get an 8800gts 640mb to work on an HDTV I can testify that nVidia drivers are in fact not awesome.
