Swiftech Apogee XT Review
Quote:
Swiftech Apogee XT Review Swiftech really needs no introduction. In business since 1994, they have propelled themselves into one of the premier PC cooling component manufacturers in the world and maintained that status for quite a while. Their MCR series of radiators are legendary for their number one cost-to-performance standing. They're not the best on the market, but they cannot be beat for the price. Their MCP pumps (which are rebranded Liang) are the de facto standard in water cooling the world over. Today we are looking at their Apogee XT CPU water block. The Apogee XT is Swiftech's newest addition to their CPU water block family. Prior to the release of the HeatKiller 3.0, their Apogee GTZ was the top of the heap. The HK 3.0 LT and CU changed all of that, usurping Swiftech's claim to the throne. Well, Swiftech is back and is taking no prisoners this time. Read the full review here!

Nice review Hokie! Good job!
I read it through and found it very interesting! I had a Koolance graphics card block once that had some issue with standard barbs too. Once you screwed them all the way in, there was only a very little space for the water to pass. Good thing there's some barbs on the market that have shorter threaded sections! Cheers!

I had one of those too. It seems like Koolance's way of forcing the use of their fittings, which have shorter thread depths.

Is it the same kind of issue you ran into with the Apogee XT? Or something else like bad (not clean) threading towards the end?

Koolance's depth was just too small. Normal fittings screwed down all the way to the opposite side of the block.
The XT isn't an "issue" per se. If you didn't click through to Gabe's post on the matter, you should; he said it best. Basically, there are tolerances to threading, min & max. If the barb is on one end of the tolerance and the block on the other, it will be harder to screw in. Makes sense to me.

Ah! Totally makes sense to me too! "Tolerances" is a pretty basic concept in engineering. Sorry I didn't follow that link. I should've so I wouldn't have had to ask.

No need to apologize. It's probably better to have in more than one place anyway.
