Dell :( :( :( :( :(
Never buy anything from these people unless it is laptop. I swear they install software that after a month no matter what you do the computer acts like it has a Pentium 2 with a voodoo gfx card. Frequent crashed as the system take 10 mins to load.
The reason I say they are still not bad for laptops as they do look quite nice and they have a certain quality about them. Also nowhere else offers you so much component choice so a low price.
Overall they suck but if you want to buy a budget laptop at least consider them still

oh man i hear you.
At work I deal with this bunch of glorified PC World workers a great deal. Their techies know nothing, they just work from a script, if it isnt in their they havent a clue.

and the prices PC world charge for something as simple as setting up a home network £100 quid I have seen it sometimes!! I would setup 10 for that. Plug in the router, via lan cable setup SSID + key and p/word for router. Unplug from PC scan for wireless networks. enter key and give key + p/word to client. Done in around 15 mins if no major hiccups.

Yep I will. My grandad brought one just for browsing the internets. He was sold it with 1GB of RAM but he got a dead stick and so only had 768(?) MB.
I upgraded it for him to an Athlon X2 and some more RAM not long ago because he started to play online golf.

no the ram did not have a dead stick
what happens is that
the video card uses shared memory from the main system ram

Okay... but there was four 256MB sticks in there. Well, I'm guessing they were 256, I'd never heard of a 192MB stick of RAM until I just googled it and got a load of PDA stuff.
EDIT:
Reading through it again it makes sense to me now.
