Facebook the social networking site that we all know and love, parodied by many in comedy shows such as the cult hit the ‘I.T Crowd’ with the Friend Face’ scenes. However there is a darker side to the aforementioned that is just coming into light by the worlds media and that is the word’ ‘Spying’ Now to the average person this would sound a little far-fetched and reminds one of a certain gentleman whom had an arch-enemy going by the moniker of ‘Blowfeld’  and a certain evil white cat.  However in this dark seedy world, there is an absence of sexy women throwing themselves at people nor are there any uber-villains whom are stupid enough to explain all their plans when they think they are about to achieve world domination. This realm is one of cowardice and corruption at the highest of levels and the voice of the people has become the language of the few, what was meant to bring the world closer together in order to speak with one voice is now but a awkward silence.

Just as the aforementioned have been embroiled in a long-running saga of working closely with agencies of ill-repute such as , the American NSA and the British GCHQ then the average person has to worry on what is going on? What was once called the era of a conspiracy theory ‘nut’ has now become  ‘Fact’ and the people whom theorised this long ago are now no longer the subject of being a laughing stock. Sharing if critical information on not just the public at large but individual also. This of course violates almost every western nations sovereign rights to allow anonymous usage of the Internet without data/information collection on the latter-mentioned user. Now just as this comes to light Facebook then hits the general public with a double-punch and this consists of the aforementioned censoring individual accounts and insuring people use a ‘Real Name’. Their reason is ‘in order to promote a global community’, however this is indeed far from the truth and if sooth must be known it is to make it far easier for aforementioned agencies to spy and collect data on you.

‘They start by saying that they are protecting the public from evil;-dooers like Wicked Rock bands, Terrorist groups, Girlie magazines etc. However if you follow it all down what they are really trying to do is SHUT OFF  our access to information itself! If they cannot do it by law they will find some other way to accomplish it.

Now the question is as follows; will the public at large sit by and idly let the operators of Face Book continue with these draconian measures-given that they have already been implicated in the worlds largest spy scandal or will the former-mentioned public do something about it?

Tony Benn MP once said; ‘There a number of ways to control a population; one way as in the case of America is to keep the populace ‘fearful’ as then they will be too afraid to question the other way is to keep them debt ridden as someone in debt will surely not cause any trouble (trouble meaning questioning on what is going on) as they will lose their job.

However we at OCT think there is a third way to do this and t hat is to shut off our ability to disseminate information with each other or even control the flow of such.

Lastly millions died in the last world war so the average person like you or I can have access to freedom and information and that information being a form of freedom.

Freedom is not about doing what you wish or when you want, rather the former is about choices and accepting the consequences for our own actions, only through consequences and choice can we be truly free.

The worst kind of oppression is a society that does not know that they ARE oppressed.

Finally the ironic thing is that this article was be disseminated through Facebook far and wide, in other words by using the system to destroy itself.

However this subject is all too ‘James Bond’ like for us and rather than ‘The Spy that Loved Me’ it looks as though FaceBook has become more like ‘The Fly That Bugged Me’
